Position Description

Saint-Gobain's manufacturing site in Wheatfield, NY is seeking an Engineering Intern/Co-op for a full-time Summer 2026 assignment (May-August). This is a hands-on opportunity to build practical manufacturing experience while partnering with production, quality, and engineering teams. Your primary project will be to create, standardize, and document shop-floor Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that help teams work safely, consistently, and efficiently.

What you'll do

  • Develop, format, and publish SOPs/work instructions for key manufacturing processes and equipment
  • Work directly with operators and supervisors to capture best practices and clarify process steps
  • Partner with Operations, Quality and Engineering to support document control, training materials, and change updates
  • Support continuous improvement activities (data collection, basic analysis, and implementation follow-up)
  • Spend time on the production floor to understand workflow, safety requirements, and product quality expectations

Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled and in good academic standing
  • Junior-level undergraduate or graduate student (or equivalent experience)
  • Available to work full-time, daytime hours from May-August 2026
  • Able to work safely and effectively in a manufacturing/production environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong communication, organization, and prioritization skills
  • Self-starter with a proactive, continuous-improvement mindset
  • Previous industrial/manufacturing experience is a plus
