Job Summary

The Power Engineering Summer Student supports the safe and efficient operation of boilers, turbines, and related power plant equipment. This role is well‑suited for individuals who are mechanically inclined, safety‑focused, and motivated to apply their training in a real‑world production setting.

Responsabilities

  • Operate and maintain boilers, air compressors, and power plant equipment under the supervision of the Shift Supervisor.
  • Conduct troubleshooting on boilers, turbines, and associated systems.
  • Perform water testing and treatment.
  • Support maintenance teams with complex troubleshooting issues.
  • Assist in developing and updating standard operating procedures.
  • Participate in root‑cause analysis and corrective action activities.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards and comply with plant safety regulations (5S, VMVO, WCM).

  • Term: Mid‑May to End of July 2026
  • Schedule: Rotating 12‑hour Day/Night Shifts
  • Shift: 5:45am to 5:45pm and 5:45pm to 5:45am

Requirements:

  • Must be currently enrolled in a 2-year Power Engineering program.
  • Valid 4th Class Power Engineering certificate.
  • Experience with boilers and turbines.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work rotating 12‑hour day/night shifts.
  • Experience in water testing and treatment (asset).
  • Experience developing procedures (asset).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong computer skills; SAP experience is an asset.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Health & Safety.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in English.

Work Conditions:

  • Frequent sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move loads up to 50 lbs.
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment, including a respirator, is required.
