Context

Within the Finance Operations (FinOps) BP Clients team, you will contribute to the monitoring of financial performance and management control activities related to ENGIE's large corporate client portfolio.

The team supports energy supply and risk management activities by providing financial analysis, performance monitoring and decision-making support to key stakeholders across the business. It plays a central role in ensuring the reliability of financial information, optimizing reporting processes and enhancing business performance.

This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain exposure to the financial management of energy activities while interacting with various business functions, including Front Office, Back Office, Risk Management and Accounting teams.

Your Mission

As an Assistant Business Controller Intern, you will actively support the team in monitoring financial performance and improving management control processes.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Contributing to the preparation and analysis of financial performance reports, including P&L monitoring, variance analysis and cash flow forecasts;
• Supporting monthly closing activities and participating in financial consolidation processes;
• Monitoring, maintaining and enhancing reporting tools and dashboards using Excel and Power BI;
• Assisting in the identification, analysis and resolution of discrepancies between accounting and economic data;
• Contributing to the optimization and automation of reporting and controlling processes through VBA, Power Query, Python or other digital solutions;
• Performing ad hoc financial and business analyses to support decision-making;
• Collaborating with various stakeholders, including Front Office, Back Office, Accounting and Risk teams;
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing efficiency, data quality and reporting reliability.

What we are looking for

Hard skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including:
  • Advanced formulas;
  • Pivot tables;
  • Data analysis and reporting functionalities;
• Knowledge of VBA is a strong advantage;
• Good knowledge of data visualization and reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau;
• Interest in process automation and data analytics (Python, Power Query, macros);
• Understanding of finance, accounting and management control principles;
• Knowledge of SAP or ERP systems would be considered a plus.

Education & Experience

• Currently pursuing a Master's degree (Bac+4/5) in Finance, Management Control, Accounting, Business Administration, Engineering or a related field;
• Strong interest in financial analysis, business performance and controlling activities;
• A first internship or academic project in management control, finance, auditing, reporting or financial analysis would be appreciated;
• Knowledge of energy markets or commodity businesses is an asset but not mandatory.

Languages

• Fluent English (written and spoken);
• French professional proficiency.
