Description du poste
This Research Engineer I, reporting to the Principal Scientist / Group Leader, will support R&D activities in the Vitrified & Abrasive Grains Group, within Bonded Abrasives, located out of Saint-Gobain Innovation Hub North America.
The main activities include, but are not limited to, sample testing and characterization, data analysis and interpretation, preparing summaries and reports for presentation/discussion with stakeholders within and outside of R&D, assisting in the preparation and completion of pilot production trials, visiting with customers and vendors, attending field-testing, assisting in the completion of studies developed by others, independently ideating and executing their own research studies, assisting with maintaining and improving lab operations, and above all else working with integrity, honesty, and in a manner that is safe to themselves and others.
The person in this role will provide immediate support to a key project within Vitrified Bonded Abrasives; work on this project will benefit both the person in this role (providing hands on training in a variety of tasks/operations/concepts critical to Vit BA) and the project lead.
The core responsibilities of this position are centered on working safely in the lab and in our production plants, all towards developing and launching products with improved performance, improved sustainability, and/or improved cost.

The Bonded Abrasives R&D team develops advanced abrasive products used across a wide range of industrial applications. Based in Northborough, MA, this team works closely with manufacturing sites and global partners to bring new technologies from concept to commercialization. The role offers exposure to both laboratory innovation and real_world production environments, with opportunities to contribute directly to high_impact projects.

We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer potential candidates. Provided is the national pay range for this position which is $72,500 to $111,500 per year. However, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 9% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $79,025 to $121,535. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.

Required Qualifications
· BS in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or other related disciplines.
· Familiarity with data analysis and statistical tools (JMP, Minitab etc.)
· Ability to work and collaborate in a cross functional team
· Ability to cultivate and maintain strong interpersonal relationships with team members
· Strong planning and organizational skills
· Ability to innovate and problem solve
· Excellent communication skills
· Knowledge of HSE
· The ability to lift up to 50 lbs is also required, for example, when traveling to visit a customer checked luggage may weigh up to 50 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
· At least one year of hands-on laboratory experience is required and industrial internship experience is preferred.
· Ability to work in both lab and manufacturing settings
· Experience with mixing, grinding, pressing, or materials characterization
· Experience supporting R&D or pilot_scale operations
· Familiarity with laboratory documentation practices (lab notebooks, electronic systems)
· Knowledge of HSE
