Are you ready to take on a hands-on role in a dynamic, high-quality manufacturing environment? At our Chicago 51st Site, every team member plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with EHS policies, maintaining top-tier quality and productivity standards, and driving operational excellence.
As a Plant Operator - Packager, you'll be at the heart of our operations, working with advanced equipment and processes to package, transport, and handle chemical materials safely and efficiently.
This shift is 2:30pm - 10:30pm.
What You'll Do:
- Operate and oversee packaging equipment and processes to ensure smooth production.
- Safely handle, store, and transport chemical materials using both motorized and non-motorized equipment.
- Manage manual and automated operations, utilizing field controls and computer-controlled interface systems.
- Package materials into appropriate containers while following strict safety and quality protocols.
- Respond to emergencies, including shutdown procedures when necessary.
- Maintain accurate plant data sheets, environmental reports, inventory logs, and equipment inspections.
- Ensure the highest standards of quality, cleanliness, and workplace safety within your role.
What We're Looking For:
- High School Diploma or GED (accredited)
- 1-2 years of manufacturing experience (preferably in the chemical industry)
- Strong English reading, math, and technical skills
- Ability to learn and qualify on various processes and equipment in a fast-paced chemical manufacturing environment
What to Expect:
- Work Schedule: Plant Operator - Packagers may be required to work weekends and holidays based on business needs, along with overtime as needed.
- Training & Certification: All employees must successfully complete our Plant Operator - Packager Training, Certification tests, and plant-specific training.
- Physical Requirements: This role requires standing, walking, climbing, and lifting up to 50 lbs frequently (up to 75 lbs with assistance).
- Work Environment: Expect exposure to humid conditions, moving machinery, chemicals, and occasional outdoor elements, along with noise and vibration.

All employees at the Chicago 51st Site are responsible and held accountable for achieving compliance with our EHS procedures and policies, High Quality and productivity Standards.
Employees are responsible for, but not limited to:
- Knowing the equipment and process operation for packaging
- Handle, store, and transport chemical materials using motorized and non-motorized equipment.
- Manual and auto operation of the process, using field controls and computer-controlled interface systems.
- Package Material in appropriate containers, following proper procedures
- Respond to emergency situations, including emergency shutdown in his area
- Complete plant data sheets, environmental reports, inventory sheets, forklift inspection reports, etc. as requested.
- Each Plant Operator - Packager is accountable for the highest level of quality and housekeeping within their job function.
- Operator may / will be required to work weekends and holidays depending on the sales demands of the business and work overtime as production demands dictate.
- Employee must successfully complete all applicable Plant Operator - Packager Training and Certification tests and plant training requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, formulas and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively through verbal and written channels. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, and climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds with assistance.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high places; fumes or airborne particles; chemicals (acids and bases); outside weather conditions; heat; noise and vibration.
Minimum Requirements
- HS Diploma / accredited GED
- 1-2 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in the chemical industry
- Applicants need to have strong reading (English), math and technical skills, and the ability to qualify on various processes and equipment in a dynamic and complex chemical manufacturing environment.
