This role is home based/remote and with travel up to 25% to 30% within the domestic U.S. when required.

We are seeking a licensed Sr. Structural Engineer (PE) to lead the design, analysis, and technical validation of panelized residential building systems, including factory‑built wall, floor, and roof assemblies. This role is responsible for structural integrity, code compliance, manufacturability, and field performance across single‑family, townhome, and low‑rise multifamily construction.

Operating at the intersection of engineering, manufacturing, and construction, this position supports repeatable designs, standardized details, and scalable production practices.

Panelized System Design & Analysis

  • Design and analyze panelized wall, floor, and roof systems, including gravity and lateral load paths.
  • Perform structural analysis for wind, seismic, snow, uplift, and serviceability criteria.
  • Engineer and detail structural connections between panels, diaphragms, foundations, and load‑bearing elements.
  • Develop framing strategies optimized for factory production and efficient on‑site assembly.
  • Produce foundation plan sets based on loading, local codes, and preferred foundation approaches.

Codes, Standards & Engineering Authority

  • Apply and interpret applicable codes and standards (IRC, IBC, ASCE 7, NDS, ACI, AISC).
  • Serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) where required, including signing and sealing drawings and calculations.
  • Evaluate design changes, substitutions, and field conditions for structural impact.
  • Support plan review and permitting processes with relevant agencies and AHJs.

Manufacturing & Constructability Integration

  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to align structural design with plant capabilities, tolerances, and production workflows.
  • Work with installation teams to ensure designs support safe, consistent, and efficient field assembly.
  • Contribute to standard panel details, system libraries, and repeatable SKUs.
  • Review shop drawings, CNC outputs, and atypical component fabrication details (e.g., steel).
  • Diagnose and resolve production or installation issues with practical, code‑compliant solutions.

Documentation & Project Support

  • Prepare and review structural plans, load maps, framing plans, calculations, and installation details.
  • Respond to RFIs from production and field teams and provide construction‑phase engineering support.
  • Coordinate with architects, builders, and project engineers to ensure structural design intent is maintained.

Licensure Requirement

Candidates must hold an active Professional Engineer (PE) license in at least one of the following states and be willing and able to obtain licensure in additional states as required: Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, and Wisconsin.
