Under the supervision of the Shift Supervisor, the position is accountable for overseeing shift production, meeting production performance goals, quality goals, and ensuring a safe working environment for each employee. The Production Set-up Technician Lead is also responsible for creating a culture of collaboration and accountability by guiding, coaching, and mentoring the production teams to consistently meet plant objectives and deliverables.

Essential Duties:

Leadership

• Coaches, guides, and mentors, Set-up Team, by influencing behaviors to meet assigned responsibilities that directly improve individual, team, and plant performance
• Work with the set-up team to schedule and assign line responsibility, monitor progress, and evaluate results
• Provide essential communication between management and production crews
• Lead monthly team meetings
  Equipment Set-up & Changeover - Required to be LOTO certified
• Conduct efficient changeovers to maximize equipment uptime - these include, but are not limited to;
  • Gray Line: MJ saws, Trim saw, Fanuc robot set-up, Infeed automation
  • Blue Line: Lamination, Trim saw, MJ saw
  • Green Line: Tenoners, Paint blocks, Paint booth
  • Custom Line: System set-up - line operation
  • Certa: System set-up
• Troubleshooting operational conditions to ensure yields are in line with standards
• Ensuring Set-up Standard Work is being followed & updated when required
• Leading Safety awareness through example and instruction
• Learning & documenting set-up processes for new equipment - training operators

Continuous Improvement

• Document current processes and propose improved processes through Charters, VSMs, and problem-solving tools.
• AM/PM calendar ownership - driving equipment health & communication through the use of AM/PM boards
• Developing Standard Operating Procedures, work instructions, 5S activities, and displaying manufacturing KPIs.
• Assist in teaching & mentoring employees in Lean/WCM use of tools and methodologies.
• Trained in Lean Six Sigma Principles (Five S's, Waste Reduction, Error/Mistake Proofing, PDCA, Root Cause Analysis, A3 Problem Solving, Value Stream Mapping, KAIZEN, Lead Time Reduction).
• Lead 5S auditing initiatives

Production Development & Training

• Training for each employee identified as a potential Operator to ensure candidates understand the requirements, are provided a training path, and measures against performance
• Fill out metrics required to accurately report out on Sustainment Boards, Production Boards, and Pillar Boards.
• Audit good housekeeping, as established by Operator Duty Sheets, identify gaps and areas for improvement, and provide supervisors/managers feedback to close gaps
• Works with Production Manager & Plant Engineer to establish cost savings, to identify process improvements

As an individual contributor, this position will enhance communication to and from the production teams. This position will work closely with the Production Manager and Line Coordinators to help troubleshoot and solution the daily production needs. The ideal candidate will have the skills described below.

• Experience leading a team in manufacturing (preferred)
• 2 years or more of set-up experience or maintenance support (required)
• HS diploma or GED (required)
• Knowledge and experience using Microsoft suite (required)
• Due to the requirements of this position, this will only be available for current Set-Up Technicians.
