Manufacturing Management Trainee

The Manufacturing Management Trainee Program is designed to provide a strong foundation for future leaders through comprehensive, hands-on experiences in key functions at our manufacturing site. The one-year program includes rotations through core functions of our manufacturing process and systems including all wet-end job functions, dry-end job functions, warehousing, MES systems, training systems, Continuous improvement tools and methods, as well as leadership methods/practices, providing an opportunity to learn, grow, and gain an in-depth understanding of our business from multiple perspectives. Dedicated mentorship and guidance from experienced professionals, as well as skills development that promote leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills, are keys to the success of this position. These experiences prepare the job holder for a future management role. The company reserves the right to shorten or lengthen the trainee period.

Production - 40% of the time

• Oversee daily production activities, ensuring schedules and targets are met.
• Participate in hands-on production work to understand machinery, workflows, and equipment maintenance.
• Monitor safety standards and practices within production areas to promote a safe working environment.
• Shadow production supervisors to learn effective team management and reporting practices.

Operational Systems - 30% of the time

• Learn the MES for production reporting and lead improvements in loss coding to provide more accurate and consistent data.
• Assess job functions throughout the production department to organize SOPs, OPLs, and other training documents to build the library in the company training system to improve facility training.
• Work with the digital manufacturing team to develop tools in MDH to improve manufacturing efficiency.
• Collaborate with department heads to develop custom reports to highlight key manufacturing indicators and trends.

Continuous Improvement - 30% of the time

Participate in WCM and Lean and Six Sigma training to understand continuous improvement methodologies.

• Work on cross-functional projects aimed at improving efficiency, reducing costs, and increasing production quality.
• Assist in mapping processes, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing changes for improved workflows.
• Collaborate with different departments to gather feedback and ideas for ongoing operational improvement.
• Complete Root Cause Analysis investigations using tools such as EWOs and HERCAs to identify root causes of losses and implement solutions to eliminate associated losses.
• Lead 5S initiatives to drive a clean, safe, work environment that enables operators to work more efficiently.
• Participate in projects to optimize material usage and reduce waste.
