As an integral part of the Saint-Gobain North American Communications team, the Sr. Manager, Public Relations, is responsible for managing many of Saint-Gobain North America's external communication initiatives, specifically with media relations and the placement of positive, proactive earned media stories in the United States and Canada to help shape the company's reputation. The objective of this position is to provide Saint-Gobain's North American region and businesses with consistently excellent communications counsel and materials related to key initiatives and reputational issues and priorities, including those associated with operations, environmental sustainability, corporate philanthropy, and other public relations needs. The position requires a deep understanding of best practices across the full range of corporate communications, including media relations, impeccable writing skills, and an understanding of current events and issues facing manufacturing companies. This individual must have existing positive relationships with news reporters, the ability to learn complex issues quickly and the ability to distill complex topics into understandable communications for broad audiences. This is a highly visible position that requires a positive attitude, the ability to effectively navigate a heavily matrixed organization, the ability to simultaneously manage multiple complex projects, and a willingness to be a team player.

In this position you will:

  • Develop and drive a calendar of positive external announcements at locations throughout the United States and Canada where the company does business.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key news reporters in the communities where the company does business
  • Manage the response to inbound media inquiries, aligning responses with internal stakeholders as necessary
  • Build visibility for the organization's corporate philanthropy and community relations strategy and objectives, shaping positive perceptions of the brand and the company both locally and nationally.
  • Partner with the communications leadership team to establish PR objectives and develop KPIs to measure success
  • Manage daily activities of PR agency team and implementation of communications calendar in line with strategic business objectives
  • Ensure timely and accurate PR data collection to monitor and assess progress toward achieving company goals

  • When needed, support the organization's crisis responses by drafting communications materials and providing counsel
  • Responsible for the integrated deployment of various communications campaigns across external channels in line with regional communications strategy or key initiatives
  • Manage two full-time direct reports (US and Canada)

Description du profil

  • Bachelor's degree in Media and Communications, English, Journalism, Marketing or any related field is required
  • 5-7 years of experience in corporate communications or media relations is required, including a demonstrated track record of securing positive earned media coverage
  • Existing positive relationships with news reporters is required
  • Experience working in a communications role at a manufacturing company, or as a reporter in a newsroom, is preferred
  • A master's degree in business, marketing or another related field is preferred
