The Dunnage Slueter Cutter position in our Seattle, Washington plant is primarily responsible for handling, preparing, and moving materials (including the boards and their packaging/support materials, i.e., dunnage) to ensure a smooth production process and safe shipment of finished products. Produces dunnage used in the stacking and shipping of drywall products based on established procedures and guidelines, and transporting the bundled spacer "slueters" from the dunnage machine to the Takeoff Operators.
This position reports directly to the Shift Performance Manager and works independently and within a team setting.
Shift: Nights 7:00pm-7:00am
WORKING CONDITIONS
· Works in a manufacturing plant environment with limited HVAC, concrete floors, and exposure to industrial noise, dust, chemicals, and temperature changes.
· Normal plant operation is 24 hours, 7 days a week and work hours may vary depending on business needs.
· May require long hours, and weekend and holiday work.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
· Must be capable of wearing personal protective equipment necessary to comply with government and company safety standards whenever engineered methods of reducing hazards or physical requirements cannot be reasonably accommodated
· Perform tasks that require extensive and rigorous walking, bending, twisting, pushing and pulling, gripping, stair, and ladder climbing, entering confined spaces, navigating rough terrain, and occasional lifting of up to 75 lbs.
· May require long periods of sitting, walking, standing, working on a computer, or engaging in a telephone conversation

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
· Champions a safety-first environment and keeps up to date on new safety policies, procedures, and initiatives
· Performs quality checks per the quality control plan and escalates issues to Line Production Lead if required
· Safely operates dunnage machine to produce dunnage. Conducts basic machine troubleshooting and calls Maintenance Team or Supervisor for support as needed
· Uses material handling equipment (forklifts) to move raw materials, work-in-process parts, and finished products throughout the facility. Uses forklifts to organize board to be used for dunnage. Clears jams safety and utilizes Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures when needed. Assembles packaging material, prepares labeling, taping, and stacks finished products for inventory and shipment.
· Completes daily and weekly duty sheets for cleanliness and maintenance of machines and work areas. Maintains dunnage glue supply.
· Maintains accurate records and documentation related to production and material movement. Record information about dunnage production as needed Re-supplies sluetters at takeoff using a fork truck
· Adheres to Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures to help address mechanical issues or upset conditions
· Performs daily forklift inspection and refuel as needed
· Assists with troubleshooting responses to problems or breakdowns in the Take Off area and on the lines as required
· Adheres to all housekeeping standards and ensures workspace is clean, safe, and in working order within assigned area(s)
· Maintains in-depth and ongoing knowledge of assigned equipment, work area(s), procedural and safety updates
· Works well with others in a team environment
· Adheres to all company policies and procedures
· Assists with projects and administrative paperwork including recording and entering data into established systems, monthly Safety Management Audit Tool (SMATs), inventory tracking, damage and injury reports, and World Class Manufacturing (WCM) work area improvement projects.
· Participates in daily pre-shift meetings
· Participates as required in AIB board meetings and completes AIB tasks as required
· Participates in biweekly training/continuous improvement days
· Must report to work on a consistent and timely basis
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
· High school diploma or GED
· Proven ability to read, write, interpret and/or apply instructions to assigned activities
· Mechanical aptitude to operate machinery
· Display adaptability, customer focus, and good written and oral communication
· Basic computer skills
PREFERRED OR DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Two (2) years of experience industrial manufacturing environment
· Experience operating a forklift
