What's the job?

The Unified Communications Specialist supports the Telephony Evolution Program by managing relationships with voice carriers and telephony system providers while ensuring a seamless communication experience across the organization. Serving as a key liaison between the Unified Communications Manager, IT teams, and external carriers, this role supports system migrations, quality assurance, and ongoing optimization of unified communication tools.The specialist helps integrate voice, video, messaging, and collaboration platforms into a cohesive user experience. They ensure systems are properly implemented, monitored, and aligned with business needs, while providing end‑user support and training to drive adoption and productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
Systems Implementation & Management
• Deploy and configure UC platforms (e.g., Alcatel-Lucent Rainbow HUB, Purple-On-Demand), including messaging, video, and voice features.
• Monitor system performance, resolve issues, and maintain service availability.
• Coordinate accurate chargebacks for telephony services with Finance.
Voice Carrier Management
• Serve as primary contact for carriers, managing migrations and ensuring quality throughout implementation.
• Negotiate contracts and pricing in partnership with Procurement.
• Manage order placement, configuration, and timely termination of legacy services.
User Support & Training
• Provide first level support, escalating to carriers or system providers when needed.
• Develop and deliver training for users with varying technical skill levels.
Integration & Collaboration
• Work with departments to understand communication needs and tailor solutions.
• Ensure UC systems integrate effectively with existing tools (e.g., CRM, project software).
Documentation & Knowledge Management
• Maintain accurate technical documentation, configurations, and process details.
• Develop user-facing knowledge articles to enable self service support.
Monitoring & Reporting
• Track usage, system performance, and adoption trends.
• Prepare reports and insights for the Unified Communications Manager.
Security & Compliance
• Ensure systems comply with security standards and organizational policies.
Team Collaboration
• Participate in team initiatives, sharing insights and best practice

Certain locations require pay information be provided in job postings. Saint-Gobain aims to deliver a comprehensive Total Rewards package to support our employees' wellbeing and help improve daily life for themselves and their families. We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer potential candidates. Provided is the national pay range for this position which is $92,000 to $142,000 per year. However, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 12% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $103,000 to $159,000 Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.

What do you bring?

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience
• Knowledge of Project Management Methodologies
• Work Experience - 7 - 10 years' experience with classical PSTN voice and carrier services and implementation processes. 5 - 7 years with IP Telephony experience.
• VoIP and IP Telephony Expertise: Proficient understanding of VoIP technologies, protocols (SIP, H.323, etc.), and equipment (IP phones, VoIP gateways).
• Network Understanding: Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, LAN/WAN architecture, and Quality of Service (QoS) for voice traffic.
• Telephony Systems Management: Experience in managing telephony systems, including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
• Unified Communications Knowledge: Familiarity with unified communication platforms that integrate voice, video, messaging, and collaboration tools.
• Planning and Execution: Ability to develop detailed project plans with timelines, milestones, and resource allocation for telephony initiatives.
• Team Development: Strong capability to mentor and develop teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Performance Management: Skills in setting clear objectives, conducting performance reviews, and providing constructive feedback to team members.
• Interdepartmental Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, aligning telephony strategies with organizational goals.
• Vendor Management: Expertise in evaluating, negotiating, and managing vendor contracts to ensure service quality and cost-effectiveness.
• Stakeholder Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with stakeholders at all levels, including technical and non-technical audiences.
• Customer Service Orientation: Focus on delivering high-quality service to end-users, addressing their needs, and enhancing their experience with telephony systems.
