Saint-Gobain is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join our Amherst manufacturing team. In this role, you will produce boron nitride and ceramic components using a combination of CNC and conventional/manual machining equipment. This position offers the opportunity to work with advanced materials in a collaborative manufacturing environment where quality, safety, and continuous improvement are top priorities.

Description du profil
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC mills, CNC lathes, and conventional machining equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
- Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, workholding, feeds, and speeds for machining operations.
- Load and verify CNC programs, establish offsets, make tool adjustments, and perform basic program edits.
- Machine ceramic and boron nitride materials to precise specifications while maximizing material utilization.
- Perform first-piece and in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments.
- Monitor equipment performance, tooling condition, product quality, and production output.
- Maintain accurate production, inspection, inventory, and scrap records.
- Troubleshoot machining and equipment issues and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Adhere to all safety, environmental, and quality standards.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of machining experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience setting up and operating CNC mills, CNC lathes, and conventional machining equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, dimensions, and work instructions.
- Proficiency using precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Working knowledge of tooling, workholding, machine offsets, feeds and speeds, and basic CNC programming adjustments.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently while meeting safety, quality, and production expectations.
- Flexibility to work assigned shifts and overtime as required.
Preferred
- Experience machining technical ceramics, boron nitride, graphite, composites, or similar materials.
- CNC programming and CAM software experience.
- Experience working in an ISO 9001 or similarly controlled manufacturing environment.
- Technical machining certificate, apprenticeship completion, or journey-level machinist credential.
- Forklift experience or certification.
