WHAT - Summary & Purpose of the Position
Are you passionate about driving excellence in R&D program execution through direct, hands-on engagement? As the Asset Planning Process and Data Integrity Lead, you won't just guide strategy-you'll roll up your sleeves to actively support Asset Operations Leads (AOLs), sub-teams, functional leads, and portfolio reporting. This role is deeply embedded in the day-to-day operations of planning and execution, ensuring consistency, quality, and maturity across programs.
You will be responsible for establishing and applying standards, resolving operational challenges, and personally engaging in planning activities to improve delivery efficiency. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on being in the trenches-working closely with teams, solving problems, and driving continuous improvement through direct action.
A key part of your responsibilities will be to serve as the business owner and administrator of the PPM tool, driving data integrity, configuration standards, user support, and process governance.
Working closely with Portfolio Operations & Governance Excellence team, you will play a central role in the KPI process by coordinating monthly data collection and review, and by supporting future efforts towards KPI automation & visualisation.
WHAT - Main Responsibilities & Technical Competencies
Program Enablement & Governance
- Serve as the go‑to operational expert, driving best‑in‑class program management across all R&D assets and directly empowering AOLs, functions, and sub‑team leads.
- Own planning standards end‑to‑end-monitor, troubleshoot, and elevate milestone tracking and integrated schedules.
- Deliver fast, tactical problem‑solving to unblock teams, reinforce alignment, and keep execution on track.
- Act as a trusted partner, building strong stakeholder relationships through continuous, hands‑on engagement.
- Amplify excellence by sharing insights, best practices, and learnings grounded in real operational experience.
Capability Building & Process Maturity
- Design and deploy scalable processes and tools, co‑creating with teams to ensure real‑world usability and measurable impact.
- Spot and fix execution gaps early, leading pragmatic, hands‑on interventions to strengthen consistency and operational rigor.
- Anticipate and mitigate risks, embedding yourself in workflows to shape resilient planning habits.
- Drive change from within, supporting adoption through coaching, real-time guidance, and active involvement in rollout activities.
- Grow the organization's capabilities, mentoring PMs and planners via collaboration, shadowing, and targeted skill‑building.
Data Integrity & Quality Oversight
- Guarantee uncompromising data integrity, validating and reconciling critical program datasets yourself.
- Partner closely with stakeholders to ensure data is accurate, timely, meaningful, and decision‑ready.
- Secure end‑to‑end traceability, ensuring perfect alignment between asset‑level inputs and portfolio‑level outputs through rigorous, hands‑on validation.
HOW - Knowledge & Experience
Knowledge & Experience (essential):
- Minimum 10 years of experience in R&D program management, planning excellence, or cross-functional asset leadership within a global organization
- Strong proficiency in PPM and reporting tools, with a track record of hands-on tool usage and implementation.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams through direct involvement and coaching.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with a bias toward action and problem-solving.
- Adaptable and innovative, with a strong desire to be embedded in operational activities.
- Experience in pharmaceutical or life sciences industry
Knowledge & Experience (preferred):
- Experience implementing and maintaining a functionally integrated project planning tool and process within the pharmaceutical R&D, Medical and commercial space.
- Experience with integrated planning software such as OnePlan, Smartsheet, Planisware, MS ProjectOnline
- Experience with integrating with iPeople and SAP S/4HANA
- Experience with Microsoft Power Apps and Power Automate
Education / Certifications (essential):
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Life Sciences, Business Analytics, Engineering, or related field.
Education / Certifications (preferred):
- Advanced degree preferred
- Certifications such as PMI, PMP, PROSCI Change Management, or similar
