Description du poste
Akuo is looking for an HSE Manager to lead the planning, coordination, and supervision of the Health, Safety and Environmental management of a solar project in Dominican Republic during the construction phase.
With the aim of ensuring full compliance with international and Akuo standards and regulatory requirements, under the oversight and reporting to the project's Execution Manager, your responsibilities will be as follows:
- Develop, implement, and supervise HS&E plans in line with IFC (or equivalent) standards, ensuring full compliance of contractors and subcontractors with approved HSE management plans and applicable laws, including emergency response, PPE use, and proper storage areas.
- Enforce Akuo's HSE plan and monitor the EPC Contractor's and subcontractors' safety performance through regular audits, weekly safety meetings, and immediate reporting of incidents, dangerous occurrences, or environmental impacts.
- Exercise authority to stop unsafe work and verify that all contractors apply best HSE practices, comply with ESIA, Environmental Management Plans (PMAA), and maintain required site registers.
- Ensure that all personnel and visitors complete site inductions; verify contractors' toolbox talks, job safety analyses, training, and safety updates before work begins.
- Ensure the implementation of mitigation measures defined in ESIA, PMAA, and the Environmental and Social Management System, and report accidental discharges or any breach (or potential breach) of environmental requirements.
- Guarantee that all documentation related to HSE compliance is kept up to date and handed to the Owner at Taking Over; issue a monthly HS&E report including incident statistics, near misses, environmental events, and contractor working hours.
- Support coordination with landowners, manage HSE aspects related to activities affecting their land, and ensure that construction-related transport, waste disposal, and operations minimize risks to surrounding communities.
Working Conditions
- Work location: Cabreto Project (Site), San Antonio de Guerra, Dominican Republic.
- Daily working days and hours:
- Monday to Friday: from 08:00 am to 05:00 pm
- Saturdays: from 08:00 am to 12:00 pm
Description du profil
Educational qualifications and experience
- Bachelor's degree in: Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Civil or Electrical Engineering (with HSE specialization), Environmental Sciences or a Technical degree (Técnico Superior) in Occupational Health & Safety combined with strong experience on large construction projects.
- Minimum 5 years' experience managing and executing HSE plans in construction projects.
- Strong preference will be given to candidates having experience applying IFC Performance Standards, Equator Principles, or similar international frameworks to construction projects.
