Within SCOR P&C, SCOR Business Solutions (single risk) is the central unit dedicated to insuring the business risks faced corporate companies. It has been serving its customers for 45 years and has maintained a continuous presence in the market by upholding a strong technical culture supported by SCOR's best-in-class financial strength rating.
The Casualty/EIL Underwriter will be responsible for evaluating and analyzing risks associated with casualty and EIL insurance policies, both renewal and new business. This role involves assessing applications, determining coverage terms, and making informed decisions to ensure profitability and compliance with company guidelines as well as broker distribution and marketing activities.
Key duties and responsibilities
- Generate new offers of insurance and promote the Group by pro-active marketing in accordance with the defined strategy and risk appetite.
- Receive, select and evaluate offers of Casualty/EIL from various sources by independently analysing all underwriting information, including negotiating terms and conditions of the contracts with brokers.
- Contribute to the technical knowledge of sectors in which the jobholder is working.
- Maintain and enhance relationships with clients and brokers in various insurance markets but principally the French market.
- Execute growth strategies including Key account management and Cross Sell Initiatives. Support other SCOR lines by cross selling (Property, Alternative Solutions, Construction, Energy etc.)
- Research, develop and report on new areas of profitable growth, including new business development
- Maintain operational excellence in line with SCORs back-office systems and processes for example in Forewriter, Omega II, UP, SalesForce as appropriate.
- Produce reports of various formats for reporting purposes as required.
- Contribute to the claims settlement process and provide input as required in conjunction with the claims department.
- Positively interact with other departments and colleagues in SCOR Business Solutions and elsewhere throughout all SCOR Underwriting Centres internationally as appropriate (Singapore, London, Paris, New York)

- Minimum 5 years underwriting experience in insurance/reinsurance market (ideally professional line experience in Direct / Facultative)
- Proven underwriting skills for either complex Casualty or EIL programs, of large corporates (wordings, quotations, technical underwriting)
- Knowledge of the insurance marketplace including the competitor landscape, key brokers, and market dynamics/cycles
- A strong individual contributor but also a team player, who is able to work proactively and collaboratively with other team members to achieve a common goal
- Proactive, motivated and results oriented, with a can do/solutions focused attitude to work
- Curiosity, keen to take on new challenges and responsibilities (e.g. new products or market)
- Resilience, able to work under pressure with competing priorities
- Commercial and tactical vision: ability to successfully negotiate 'face to face' with brokers with strong and compelling presentation and communication skills
- Combines strong technical skills with good commercial skills.
