Our fixed and mobile networks are being softwarized and enriched with new functionalities allowing us to serve various use cases and on demand. Thus, the future developments of 5G (5G Standalone, Slicing, 5G advanced) will make it possible on the one hand to configure them for very varied needs but also to collect a lot of data. The GSMA has launched a major initiative (Open Gateway) supported by Orange and other major operators aiming to develop APIs in a coordinated and standardized manner to expose these new capabilities to business application developers. Our challenge is to take advantage of this powerful industrial movement to develop our revenue potential by monetizing the use of our network APIs on different verticals B2B, B2B2C and Wholesale and to address by a new strategy the communities of developers who will be the first customers of these capabilities. This business model is based on a value chain involving multiple actors, internal and external, and the role and income of each must be assessed.
At Orange we are working on providing seamless, personalized and on-demand connectivity through smarter networks leveraging AI, cloud computing, 5G and full IP technologies. The Telco APIs initiative at Orange is opening digital and network capabilities to developers to unlock innovation at application level.
