Work environment

The Mechanical Equipment Department is in charge of the following tasks :

  • Expertise in mechanical components and related Codes & Standards
  • Procurement and qualification of mechanical Equipment and Nuclear Fuel
  • Quality Surveillance and manufacturing follow-up
  • Management of repair and replacement activities
  • In service Inspection and Ageing Management
  • Fuel Quality Control and Handling.

Mission

As member of the group "Equipment and materials management", you will be in charge of the following typical activities in collaboration with others experts of the group and from other disciplines, and in close relation with the Project Managers and the Customers :

  • compiling and analysing technical data relative to mechanical equipment and systems, and their functionality (valves, servomotors, pumps, piping, tank compressor, handling equipment,…);
  • issuing, or reviewing, reports determining the status of qualification and operability of mechanical equipment and systems in various conditions and for long term operation;
  • contact with suppliers and partners for procurement or qualification of equipment;
  • specifying and supervising services related to the reliability of mechanical equipment: qualification tests, in-service inspection,…;
  • implementing nuclear codes and standards together with international experience feedback for qualification or in-service inspection of safety related mechanical equipment;
  • material degradation and ageing expertise;
  • assisting the Project Manager and the Customer in meetings and technical discussions with the Safety Authorities.

Qualifications

Profile

  • Engineer (mechanical, electro-mechanical, physics, chemistry) with some experience in pressure equipment (valves, pumps,…) and material science.
  • Working knowledge of French and English languages; Dutch is a plus.
  • Can work with limited supervision, reliable.
  • Interest in materials, nuclear safety and plant operation.
  • Ability to draft reports, synthesis, and technical specifications.
  • Knowledge of mechanical technology & standards, materials, manufacturing, maintenance and obsolescence issue; interested in learning more.
  • Methodical, accurate, rigorous, solution minded with team-player skills.
  • Experience in the nuclear industry is a plus.
  • Ready to work on the site of Doel or Tihange Nuclear Power Plant.
  • Ready to work abroad for short or long term missions, including possible expatriation.
  • Flexible regarding time-schedule; resistant to stress.
